About Counselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling and Psychotherapy aims to alleviate distress, increase resilience and self awareness and support clients to live more fulfilling lives. Families and friends may want to 'fix' our issues whilst we may wish to protect them from painful feelings. Through a trusting, confidential relationship, Counselling and Psychotherapy provides a safe, non-judgemental environment for you to explore troubling thoughts and emotions.

"80% of clients in counselling and psychotherapy end up better off than those who did not seek help." *

What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Both work with the therapeutic relationship as a powerful healing tool. The approaches overlap, however Counselling focuses more on specific issues and life events. Psychotherapy tends to be longer term, exploring deeper psychological issues and unconscious, protective mechanisms. These are often linked to early developmental and childhood experiences which shape our view of ourselves and the way we relate as adults.
